FOND DU LAC AREA MESHCORE
Local people.
A shared connection.
FDLMesh is a community effort to exchange short messages using small radios around Fond du Lac—without depending on cell service or Internet for the radio connection.
A SHARED LOCAL EFFORT
People.
Small radios.
Useful connections.
for the community.
A COMMUNITY EFFORT
Built here.
Built together.
The aim is a useful local network that people can understand and help improve. Start with a personal radio, lend a hand, or offer a place that might help messages travel.
Why we’re doing this
Small radios give people another way to exchange short messages. By sharing knowledge, testing real paths and finding useful sites, a community can build connections beyond normal cellular service.
We welcome people who want to use the network and people who want to help it grow. A good site, a field-test log, a careful build or a friendly explanation can all make a contribution.
What we stand for
Useful and understandable
Plain-English guidance, complete equipment lists and costs that tell the whole story.
Community participation
Ways to contribute that don’t require buying an expensive repeater or becoming a radio expert.
Evidence before claims
Measured coverage stays separate from projections. Unknowns remain unknowns.
Privacy by design
We keep residential names, home addresses and precise private-site locations out of public content.
Independent and still growing
FDLMesh is not a municipal service, cellular provider, emergency dispatch system or official MeshCore organization. It does not provide guaranteed delivery or emergency coverage. For emergencies, use established emergency services.
The lighthouse photograph celebrates Fond du Lac. It does not imply a partnership with Lakeside Park, the City of Fond du Lac or a radio installation at the lighthouse.
